Membership
Our
Memberships
Membership is open to any healthcare professional, exercise professional, physiotherapist and public interested in the field of exercise medicine. They must be above the age of 21 years old irrespective of gender, ethnic group, religion, nationality and dwelling place. There is no limit on the number of members.
The membership of The Society shall include Life Members, Ordinary, Honorary and Associate Members.
Our
Life Membership
Any Ordinary Member who has been a member continuously for at least five years shall be eligible to become a life member of The Society. Such a member shall be exempted from paying yearly subscriptions and shall be entitled to all the privileges of an Ordinary Member.
Any Ordinary Member may apply for life membership on payment of RM 750.00 (Ringgit Malaysia Seven Hundred Fifty only) or such other rate as may be prescribed by the general meeting in one lump sum and henceforth shall be exempted from paying the yearly subscriptions.
The Life Member is entitled to:
- Receive the Society certificate confirming the status of Life Membership.
- Has the right to vote.
- Eligibility to stand for election as officer bearer
- Receive a reduction in the registration fee for the society sponsored congresses and courses.
- Receive all electronic publications from the society
Our
Ordinary Membership
Ordinary Membership shall be open to healthcare professional, exercise professional, physiotherapist and public interested in exercise medicine. Ordinary member shall be:
- A Medical Doctor with an unrestricted medical license, who has completed Exercise is Medicine Malaysia course level 1 or level 2 training recognized by the Education Committee and/or has worked as sport physician for at least 5 years.
- A Physiotherapist who has completed Exercise Is Medicine Malaysia course level 1 or level 2 training recognized by the Education Committee and/or has worked in the exercise prescription field for at least 7 years.
- An Exercise Professional that has completed who has completed Exercise is Medicine Malaysia course level 1 or level 2 training recognized by the Education Committee and/or has worked as in the exercise prescription field for at least 7 years.
An Ordinary Member is entitled to:
- Receive the society certificate confirming the status of Ordinary Membership.
- Has the right to vote.
- Eligibility to stand for election as officer bearer
- Receive a reduction in the registration fee for The Society sponsored congresses and courses.
- Receive all electronic publications from The Society
Our
Honorary Membership
A person who have made exceptional contributions to the development of Exercise Medicine may be elected to Honorary Membership. Nomination shall be made by the Office Bearer for
voting at the next regular meeting. A nomination that is not meet 2/3 majority of voting of office will be considered as “rejected”.
The Honorary Member is entitled to:
- Earn a certificate indicating Honorary Membership
- Has No right to vote.
- Is Not Eligible to stand for election as officer bearer
- To pay No dues to The Society.
Our
Associate Membership
Associate Membership may be granted by a vote of the Office Bearer upon request by other profession that mentioned in Ordinary Membership who:
- Has worked as in the exercise prescription field for at least 7 years,
- Medical student
An Associate Member is entitled to:
- Receive the society letter confirming the Associate Membership.
- Receive all electronic publications from The Society,
- Associate Members has no right to vote or stand for election.
- To pay No dues to The Society
