The Department of Family Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia was established in 2009. The members are involved in evidence-based holistic care clinical services and consultancy work covering all aspects of medicine including disease prevention health checks, management of acute and chronic medical conditions; and counselling on healthy lifestyle across life-course.
Fizikal Fitness is the official website of Kuala Lumpur based personal trainer Steven Raj. An avid fitness enthusiast, he brings with him over a decade worth of experience training and designing cutting edge fitness programs for both individuals and corporate clientele.
The Unit of Sports Medicine was first established in 1997 in the wake of Malaysia’s successful bid for the 1998 Commonwealth Games. The unit, through the Sports Medicine Clinic, is entrusted to act as a referral centre in managing sports/physical activities related medical and health issues. Additionally, the Sports Medicine Unit engages in researches pertinent to Malaysian athletes towards the development of sporting excellence.
UKM MEDICAL CENTRE
UKM Medical Centre also known as Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM (HCTM) has an interlinked history with the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. The faculty was formed in 1972 at the Main Campus of UKM at, Kuala Lumpur.
In 1990, in support of expansion and in line with the needs of the nation, the Faculty of Medicine decided to set up its own teaching hospital for long-term use. HUKM was completed and started operating and in 1998.
However, in 2007, the Faculty of Medicine and HUKM have combined to create the entity known as Pusat Perubatan UKM or UKM Medical Centre. PPUKM was led by a Dean cum Director who is responsible for managing all of the academic, research, and clinical services at the Centre. The restructured entity will allow the functions and activities of the separate institutions, faculties, and hospitals to coordinate and run more efficiently, improving productivity and ways of working.
ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS OF MALAYSIA
The AFPM is an organization in Malaysia that provides professional development and continued medical education of the general practitioners. By providing this service of continuing education, the AFPM endeavors to improve the quality of healthcare delivery and is therefore concerned with the higher quality of health of the people of Malaysia.
The AFPM promotes the concept of One Family One Doctor for Malaysians to support continuity of care.
The career improvement is self-fulfilling and creates a ladder to give young general practitioners a goal to reach. Simultaneously the self-education enhances the practice of medicine to a better future.
