EIMM Basic Workshop Level (For Exercise Professionals)

RM900

The Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) Workshop Basic Level is designed for healthcare providers / Exercise Professionals who desire to obtain a greater level of training on how to integrate aspects of physical activity counselling as a regular part of their clinical practice. This curriculum is designed to give the participants the necessary tools to discuss key concepts for becoming more physically active with their patients and promote sustainable behaviour change that leads to improved health and decreased levels of obesity and chronic diseases. First established in 2013, this workshop provides a standardized curriculum for the training of the participants and the advancement of the core mission of the EIM Global initiative.

The Workshop consists of six core modules that “walk” the participants through the key steps of providing physical activity counselling in the healthcare setting. Each module has, at its core, a series of brief strategies for the participants who are able to dedicate only a few minutes to physical activity counselling in their practice. These core modules are then expanded upon to provide more comprehensive guidance for those who are able and willing to dedicate more time to physical activity counselling with their patients. The six core modules covered in this workshop include:

  • Core Module I:  Health Benefits of Physical Activity
  • Core Module II: Physical Activity Assessment
  • Core Module III:  Safety Screening & Considerations
  • Core Module IV:  Prescribing Physical Activity
  • Core Module V: Providing Physical Activity Referrals
  • Core Module VI:  Foundation in Physical Activity Behaviours Change

The core modules of the Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) Workshop Basic Level for healthcare providers / Exercise Professionals are intended to be offered over an 8-hour period of time, lasting approximately 1 hour each, while allowing time for activity.
